Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives Which One Is Better

The PS4 has better game capture features and supports VR, while the Switch has better controller options so Xbox one vs PS4 exclusives.

Both have great game libraries full of console releases, ports, and indie games. The Xbox One will outperform media features with only Ultra HD Blu-ray support.

It has been several years since the Microsoft Xbox One and the Sony PlayStation 4 came out, with both systems getting more heavy variants partway through their life cycles.

Both Microsoft and Sony’s current generation of gaming consoles inspire ferocious loyalty from their respective camps.

This means, if you are not already Team PlayStation or Team Xbox, it would be difficult for you to decide between the two.

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

We are here to help you make the impossible choice between Microsoft and Sony’s current offerings, for which we have drafted a list of key differences as well as the similarities which you need to keep in mind while buying an Xbox One or PS4.

Hardware

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives Hardware

The PS4 Slim and Xbox One; both are impressively sleek, offering attractive designs that look chiefly great under a TV and can fit into a backpack without any problem. The newest PS4 has a slight edge in terms of sheer smallness, though it lacks an optical input specifically for high-end gaming headsets.

The Xbox One S has improved a lot on the design of the original Xbox One by cutting down a lot of the heave and removing the gigantic power brick. Instead of that, it made use of an internal power supply.

It measures 11.6 x 8.9 x 2.5 inches, & unlike the previous version, it includes a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray player. Also, it will even upscale 1080p games to 4K, as long as you have a TV that can support it.

The Xbox One X might turn out to be heftier than the Xbox One S, but it is still considerably much smaller than the original Xbox One, coming in at 11.81 x 9.44 x 2.36 inches and weighing around 8.4 lbs who’s this console also has an internal power supply.

This is the high-powered version of the Xbox One, with native 4K gaming as well as a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray player which is something, not even the PS4 Pro can boast which is quite amazing.

If we come down to the PS4 side of the equation, the PS4 Slim is straight up the smallest of the entire major consoles available right now, measuring in at 10.4 x 11.3 x 1.5 inches and serving as the baseline PS4 for most consumers which has proved to be a complete replacement for the original PlayStation 4.

It sadly doesn’t give you 4K resolutions, even for video, but it can still play every game in the impressive PS4 library.

The Play Station 4 Pro was the original 4K console, coming out an entire year before the Xbox One X – even if Microsoft’s box eventually dominated it.

It measures 12.8 x 11.6 x 2.1 inches. While the Play Station 4 Pro does to at least some extent support native 4K gaming, it does not include a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-Ray Player, an omission that has attracted some flak for Sony.

Graphics

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives graphics

Proclaiming technical specifications for game systems is silly. The reason behind that is the difference in architectures and operating systems, along with a lack of consistent benchmarking across them, makes direct hardware comparisons moot.

Game performance and graphical capability are what matters a lot, and at that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are neck-and-neck.

Some games will run slightly better on one, other games slightly better on the other, but both are similar enough that you would not find huge differences between them.

Not that big of a change in performance came at the start of this console generation, but halfway through it.

Both Sony and Microsoft released enhanced, 4K-capable versions of their game systems: the aforementioned Play Station 4 Pro and Xbox One X. So, Xbox one vs ps4 exclusives games list can help to get the best games.

They are significantly more powerful than the original models, holding the capability to reach up to 4K resolution with high dynamic range (HDR) graphics.

Notice I say “up to,” because not all games will hit 4K even if you have a 4K TV, and often you will see a bump in rendered resolution to somewhere between 1080p and 4K, which is then transposed to 4K before going out to the TV.

While games generally play and look great on both systems, PS4 has the edge in terms of resolution.

For example, according to IGN’s database, games such as Shadow of Mordor and Batman: Arkham Knight; all run at full 1080p on PS4, while Xbox One gamers have to settle for 900p on those titles. PS4 comes out on top if getting the best possible crispness for most games is a priority.

Controls

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

You must need a good gamepad to play games, and both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have them. The Xbox One gamepad is a slightly updated version of the Xbox 360 controller, which has the more rounded feel and trigger buttons that offer individual force feedback.

The DualShock 4, the Play Station4’s gamepad, is a completely overhauled controller that keeps the best parts of the DualShock 3 and fixes the worst.

The analog sticks feel better, the triggers are more responsive, and the controller feels much nicer in the hand. It even features a built-in speaker and a potentially useful touchpad in the middle.

The gamepad of Xbox One is also excellent, with Bluetooth connectivity and easy compatibility with PCs. The Design Lab of Xbox also lets you build your own custom Xbox One controller from a variety of colors and patterns, which Sony does not offer.

The Xbox One’s controller received a less considerable redesign and more of an overall refinement; Microsoft claims more than 40 “technical and design innovations.”

They include textured thumbsticks, a more cross-shaped, pleasingly clicky D-pad, and new labels and functions for the longtime start and back buttons.

Games Library

Games Library

Games made by Sony will probably only come out on the Play Station4. Games made by Microsoft will probably only come out on the Xbox One.

Of course, the availability of Windows 10 for nearly all of Microsoft’s major releases means that you can play most of the big Xbox One exclusives on your PC if you want, while Play Staion4 exclusives remain solidly PS4-only.

It gives Sony an edge, but it does not represent an advantage for consumers; exclusivity only limits and does not improve the experience for anyone besides the manufacturer and publisher.

Currently, the Play Station4 has a better library of exclusives between the two, though this will depend on your choice and taste.

Fantastic games like God of War, Spider-Man, and Tetris Effect came out last year on the PS4 (and only the PS4), along with several other brilliant console exclusives since launching like Bloodbourne, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Until Dawn.

Quite a few Xbox One exclusive titles will be available at launch which includes Crimson Dragon, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Forza 5.

The company also pledged that all DLC (add-on downloadable content) for Activision’s Call of Duty: Ghosts would debut first on the Xbox One. Xbox One exclusives announced so far, but not available at launch, including Killer Instinct, Project Spark, Quantum Break, and Titanfall.

Both PlayStation4 and Xbox One play many of this generation’s best titles, from third-party blockbusters such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Resident Evil 2 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to beloved Indies like Celeste, Stardew Valley, and Dead Cells.

Battle Royale titles like Fortnite, Apex Legends, and PUBG are available on both systems, and highly anticipated third-party releases such as Watch Dogs Legion and Cyberpunk 2077 will come to both.

Media & Entertainment

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

Ever since the first Xbox One event in May, Microsoft has focused on communicating that the Xbox One would be much more than just a box with which you play video games. In contrast, most of Sony’s demos have focused on gaming and little else.

Both the Xbox One S and the PlayStation 4 can play Blu-ray movies and access a variety of online streaming services like Hulu Plus and Netflix.

The Xbox One S goes two extra steps with television integration and Ultra HD Blu-ray playback. An HDMI pass-through lets you run your cable or satellite box through the system, though without a Kinect you will need a third-party infrared blaster to control it.

This incorporates live television through your cable or satellite provider into the Xbox One’s menu system.

You also have the choice to add over-the-air television with a third-party USB tuner.

The OneGuide program guide displays both live television and what content is available on services like Machinima and Hulu Plus, giving you total control over what you watch, and you can even enjoy a split-screen view of what’s on television while you play your favorite game or browse the web, thanks to the Xbox One’s Snap feature.

If that is not enough, the Xbox One S can play Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, which means you can watch 4K HDR movies on physical media. Bizarrely, Sony did not add this feature to the PS4 Pro.

The Xbox One will allow you to switch from game to TV show, to the Web, to a movie, to Skype, really easily and smoothly (without switching inputs), with the help of just a voice command.

You will also have the ability to multitask, running games, and other apps simultaneously, with one of them in a picture-in-picture window. Microsoft calls this feature Snap, and in our hands-on demo, it worked elegantly. One snag, however, is that audio from both windows was mixed.

The Xbox One cannot quite replace your cable box, but it tries to accommodate that for you. It gets rid of your cable company’s program grid interface for Microsoft’s slick, quick OneGuide, giving you control of live TV channel selection.

You will even be able to create your own personalized “channel” with the services and shows you choose, and an “App channel” feature merges content from streaming services like Hulu Plus and Xbox Videos right into OneGuide.

Accommodation

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

After years of updates, the Xbox One interface has gone from enervative and messy to snappy and impressively customizable.

Microsoft continues to roll out new useful features, such as get instant tech support with Xbox Assist, the ability to gift games to friends, and even avoid those pesky notifications with Do Not Disturb mode. With the new Xbox Skill, you can even control your Xbox One with your voice using Alexa devices such as the Amazon Echo Dot.

Still, the PS4 menu simply feels better to navigate, and the console of Sony is still king in terms of capturing gameplay moments and sharing them with friends.

A quick tap of the DualShock 4’s Share button lets you record a clip, broadcast your gameplay, or take a screenshot. And the exclusive Share Play feature of Play Station4 lets you give control of your game to an online friend for up to 60 minutes, so long as that person has Plus.

Both consoles can directly broadcast gameplay to Twitch, though only PS4 can stream to YouTube. PlayStation4 players can share their screenshots and videos to Twitter and Facebook, whereas Xbox owners are limited to the latter network. Xbox One gamers have the option of streaming to Microsoft’s Mixer service.

The Xbox One as well as PS4 systems, both of them also permit off-TV play, for those times the family is hogging the living room.

Sony’s Remote Play feature allows you to stream PS4 games to a PlayStation Vita handheld, select Xperia devices, or your PC and Mac. Xbox One players, on the other hand, can stream their games to their Windows 10 laptops or tablets.

Price

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

The prices of Xbox One and Play Station 4 seem to change by the week, with price drops and bundle deals coming and going faster than handheld PlayStation systems. Add in special events, such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day, and it can be hard to keep track.

The cost of the PlayStation4 is $399. It launched on November 15 in the US, followed by November’29 in Europe and Australia, December for much of Asia, and February’22 for Japan.

The Xbox One, on the other hand, is priced at $499. It launched in November’22 in most countries worldwide.

The Xbox will run you $100 more upfront, and likely even more over time. You will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription, listed at $60/year, to use most of the online extras, from Netflix to gameplay video sharing.

Sony’s equivalent subscription service, PlayStation Plus, on the other hand, is required only for multiplayer gaming and online saves. It is also cheaper at $50/year.

If you are on an extra-tight budget, you can pick out for the Xbox One S All-Digital Edition ($249), which has got no disc drive and includes Forza Horizon 3, Minecraft and Sea of Thieves.

However, the standard Xbox One S drops to that price frequently, so you are probably better off waiting for a sale and getting the 4K Blu-ray drive for cheap. Especially if you do not want to rely entirely on digital downloads, this would do.

Microsoft has recently brought back the “Xbox All Access” program. This lets you sublease an Xbox One S, Xbox One X, or Xbox One S All-Digital Edition starting at $19.99 a month for 24 months.

According to Microsoft, this program saves you more than $100 if compared to purchasing the console and bundled games separately.

All-Access members can upgrade to the upcoming Xbox Series X console starting late 2020, though there isn’t any word yet on how much the upgrade will cost.

Connectivity

Xbox One VS PS4 Exclusives

The connectivity of your console could be an extremely important detail Depending on how your gaming setup is organized.

Both the Xbox One S and X have got identical ports, each of them including two HDMI ports, one for receiving an input from a cable or satellite box, and one that inputs to your TV.

On top of those, they have each got two USB 3 ports, optical audio out, IR outputs, Ethernet ports, and, of course, the power cable – which is compatible with both versions of the Xbox.

However, due to the quick and tragic downfall of Kinect, if you want to use a Kinect with either version of the Xbox One then you will have to go out and get an adapter. Wikipedia advises.

The PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro have similar inputs, although they are slightly different. Each one of them has a single HDMI out, a single USB port in the back (two in the front), an Ethernet port, and power.

The only difference between the Slim and the Pro is that the Pro has an Optical Audio out, while the Slim drops it.

One of the most compelling things about the connectivity of the PlayStation4, however, is that both versions allow users to swap out the internal hard drive with another one of their choices.

All the versions of both – Xbox One and PlayStation4, support 802.11 ac Wi-Fi and Gigabit Ethernet – so no matter which console you decide on, you would not have to worry about network compatibility, that’s for sure.

PlayStation4 and Xbox One are devoid of remarkable characteristics on the front and Xbox one and ps4 exclusives comparison you need to know.

There is a Blu-ray/DVD combo drive to the left (which can play Ultra HD Blu-rays on the Xbox One X and Xbox One S) and their respective, muted-color logos to the right. PlayStation4 has a pair of USB ports tucked between its sandwich-like halves next to where the disc drive is located.

One thing the Xbox One pulls ahead with is smart home integration. 2018 saw Microsoft announce support for Alexa voice assistant of Amazon, which means that your Xbox One can communicate with Amazon’s line of Echo smart speakers or other Alexa-enabled devices – and might be a practical alternative to using voice commands through the Kinect.

Conclusion

The bottom line is that the Sony PS4 is the overall favorite game console, but only by a hair. The PlayStation4 edges out the Xbox One thanks to its stellar exclusives, with titles like God of War, Uncharted 4, and Spider-Man being some of the best you can find on any platform.

Its comfortable, adaptable controller, intuitive interface, and handy social and sharing features certainly help too.

The Xbox One is still well worth the money if series such as Gears of War, Halo, and Forza is more your thing. Microsoft’s console still gets most key multiplatform games, and Xbox Game Pass is the single best value in gaming.

Microsoft also wins on the hardware front in some key ways, with a value-priced Xbox One S that can play 4K Blu-rays and an Xbox One X that offers the best performance of a current-generation console.

I expect most owners of current-generation consoles to stay within the family: PS3 owners are more likely to get a PS4, and Xbox 360 owners will typically go for an Xbox One. Over the years, each company has developed a stable of exclusive franchises like Uncharted and Halo that keep fans coming back for more.

It is also worth keeping in mind which console you plan on jumping to the next generation. The PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X will both be backward compatible, so if you buy a PS4 or Xbox One now, you will be building your game library for the future.

Whether either console offers enough to get people to switch sides is up to the judges. We don’t think this stint will be won by a knockout. Muneer Ahmed Owner of AmazeInvent
