Now that you are having AirPods or maybe even AirPods Pro and you have a MacBook. The problem is that you are not sure how to set those AirPods with a MacBook.

About AirPods

It was the year 2016 that this magnificent and amazing product was released and introduced to the world.

These AirPods from Apple are very much regarded as one of the best products of the company in these recent years, as you guys know that these AirPods from Apple offer great battery life, incredible portability, very simple charging, easy connectivity, and unparalleled range for Bluetooth functionality.

These AirPods are so popular now that Apple is still having problems sometimes keeping them in stock.

I remember that it was only two years after the launch of these great AirPods, it was not uncommon anymore to see a great quantity of AirPods out on the street with every second person, in movies, in TV shows as well.

What are AirPods?

AirPods are Apple’s completely wire-free headphones, which can look a bit like the Apple EarPods from the older devices, but it is without the cables.

AirPods have an Apple-designed technology inside like a special wireless chip which is called the W1 H1 (depends on the version), an accelerometer for gestures, dual optic sensors, dual beamforming microphones for Siri and phone calls, and it also has a second accelerometer for speech detection.

It comes with the AirPods Charging Case, which is used for both charging and storage purposes so that the AirPods do not get lost somewhere.

The Charging Case is about the size of a container of dental floss, so it can be easily kept in your pocket.

There is a lightning port at the bottom of the case that allows you to connect AirPods to MacBook pro as well as the case to get charged with the help of Lightning cables, which you already have on your hand.

The Wireless Charging Case of AirPods allows you to charge your AirPods with a Qi wireless charger.

Versions of AirPods

As I mentioned earlier that AirPods were released and introduced back in December 2016, they were refreshed in March of 2019.

So, this means exactly what you are thinking, there are two versions of the AirPods: the original AirPods and the 2nd generation AirPods.

There are no particular name changes between these two types of AirPods because they both are called AirPods only, but there are some noticeable differences between them to distinguish them from each other.

The 2nd generation AirPods, or you can say AirPods 2, have an updated H1 chip inside them instead of the W1 chip.

For instance, if you were wondering about the H1 chip, it allows the AirPods to switch between your devices twice as fast as never before, and what more is, that connected to a phone call is now 1.5 times faster than on the original AirPods.

There is no difference in the battery as the new AirPods have the same general battery life, but you get three hours of talk time in the new ones instead of two.

To all the people wondering that if there are some design changes between the original AirPods and the second-generation AirPods, then I need to tell you guys that there is no single design difference between these AirPods. They are identical to each other.

I think that this is enough talk for the AirPods, right? Now it is time for me to start with the guide on how to connect your AirPods with your Mac device.

Why would my AirPods connect to my Mac?

Open the Control Center and make sure Bluetooth is on. When charging, insert both AirPods, and make sure both AirPods are charging.

The status light should glow white, which means your AirPods are ready to connect. If your AirPods aren’t connected, press the setup button on the back of the case. And hold on.

Can AirPods connect to Mac and iPhone at the same time?

AirPods have Bluetooth technology like your iPhone / Apple Watch. They automatically connect to your Mac, just like iOS devices.

Why do my AirPods say the connection has been rejected?

If your AirPods are already paired with your Mac but they refuse to connect, you’ll need to pair and reconnect.

Since AirPods act as Bluetooth headphones, it’s like rearranging them. Step 1: Open the System Preferences app and go to Bluetooth.

Do AirPods work with Mac laptops?

Air pods were also innovative in other ways. However, you can also use AirPods with a MacBook laptop or Mac desktop computer.

We have used a MacBook Air-powered Mojave (macOS 10.14), but the steps outlined here will work with Sierra (MacOS 10.12) or any later desktop or laptop Mac.

Can AirPods be connected to 2 devices?

Some Bluetooth headphones are capable of automatically switching between devices with more than one pair, depending on which audio is playing. However, AirPods will only perform this function on your phone and between the Apple Watch.

In all other cases, AirPods will only try to link to the last connected device.

Can AirPods 2 connect to 2 devices at once?

Air pods can’t naturally be used with more than one device at a time, meaning you can’t listen to audio streams from multiple devices at once. However, they can be paired with multiple devices, especially if they’re all signed in to the same Apple ID account.
