Step 1: Going public

  • Open the Snapchat and click on your profile icon in the upper left corner of the Yoruba screen.

  • Scroll down to the ‘Who Can Do…’ section and make the following changes to each set under it.

  • See my location: My friends.

  • See me at Quick Add: Turned on.
  • After you make the changes close Snapchat and restart it.

And it is! You have now gone public with your profile, and someone in your circle of friends will see you in the comments and be able to contact you.

Step 2: Create a public profile

  • Open Snapchat and tap your profile icon on the top left.

  • Depending on the version of your device and applications, You should now have the new option ‘Add to Snap Map’ in the ‘Stories’ or ‘Spotlight and Snap Map’ section.

If the ‘Create Public Account’ option is not available, you can change your location to the USA using a VPN.

This trick only works for some users.

If it does not work, you will need to wait a few days for Snapchat to publish your public profile in your area officially.

  • Snapchat introduces all the new features offered by Tier 1 public profiles.
  • Now, tap at the bottom of the screen to continue to the next step.
  • Then tap Getting Started at the bottom.
  • Snapchat finally displays a disclaimer for creating a public profile again.
  • Tap on the Create to proceed to the next step.
  • You will be returning to the Settings page with a new section called Public Profiles, below which you will see a recent My Public Profiles.
  • Tap it to get started.
  • Then tab Edit Profile to edit all the details contained in the public profile.
